Before creating a PayPal account you need to know which type of PayPal Account you want to Open. In Kenya there are 2 options which are Personal and Business PayPal account.
Requirements Needed to Open a Kenyan PayPal Account.
To set up a Kenyan PayPal account you’ll be required to have the following.
- Working Email – I usually use Gmail, Yahoo ,Outlook or Proton mail.
- ID Number – To create a PayPal account you should be 18 yrs or Older and have a Kenyan ID.
- Mpesa Number – You’ll be required to link your Mpesa number with PayPal so as to facilitate Deposits and Withdrawals.
How to Set Up Kenyan PayPal Accounts.
- Go to PayPal’s Website and Click the Sign Up Button
2. Select the account type you want then click continue. { For the purpose of this blog I choose Personal Account.}
3.Add your mobile Number. For this step enter your Mpesa Mobile Number then Click Next.
4.Enter the code sent to your Phone Number to Verify that you’re the real owner.
5.Set up Your Profile by filling out the form that includes your Email address, First Name, Last Name and Password.
N/B: When filling in your First and Last Name section , make sure you write the same way as they appear in your Mpesa. If you write them wrongly, PayPal and Mpesa will fail to link.
PayPal will create your account the second you hit Agree and Create Account,
7.PayPal will then send you a Confirmation Link to your Email. Click on the link to confirm your Email Address
8.The remaining step will be linking your PayPal account with Mpesa.
How to Link Kenyan PayPal Account with Mpesa.
Linking your Mpesa and PayPal Account is very simple. Follow the steps Below.
- Go to PayPal Mobile Money Website and Click on Get Started.
- A Pop-Up will Appear. Read the Terms and Click on Agree.
3.Enter your Mpesa Number then click Link your Accounts.
4.Enter the code sent to your phone. Congratulations you’ve finished setting up you PayPal Account.
